Upper Bald River Wilderness Study Area

In today's edition of the Knoxville News Sentinel, and article entitled "Hike of the Month: Bald River Falls wilderness study area offers accessible hikes and pristine scenery" appears.  The article was written by Knox News outdoor writer Morgan Simmons.  The article resulted from a 17-mile day hike around the Upper Bald River basin using the Brookshire Creek Trail to the Benton MacKaye Trail, to the Kirkland Creek Trail. The article contains some video and an excellent photo gallery of images taken by Knox News staff photographer Adam Brimer.

Tennessee Wild offers a slate of outings including regular trips to this area.  If you want to hike this trail on your own, you will want to carry National Geographic map #781 with you.  This map is available at most local outfitters and locally at the Cherohala Skyway Visitors Center amd at Tellico Kats Deli.

Checkout the video below containing an interview with Tennessee Wild's Jeff Hunter;

UPDATE June 7, 2010: The Knox News corrected the title of the article, so we corrected it here on the blog.
