The Honorable Bob Corker
185 Dirksen Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Corker,
Thank you for introducing the Tennessee Wilderness Act of 2017 (S.973), and for your continued efforts to conserve these special places. I greatly appreciate your work to protect Tennessee’s natural heritage.
It has been nearly 30 years since new wilderness areas were designated in the Cherokee National Forest, and I urge you to push for passage of this bill during the current Congress. The 20,000 acres in the Cherokee National Forest that would be protected by your bill are vital to conserving some of Tennessee’s most treasured lands for both recreation and for their conservation values.
If these lands are designated as wilderness, current residents and businesses, as well as future generations of Tennesseans, will be able to count on having access to this nearby retreat for a wide variety of activities.
I greatly appreciate your leadership and your persistence in once again bringing up this important conservation priority in Congress.
